How it works
The flow below mirrors the Gale checkout experience so you can see exactly what to expect before placing an order.
Important information
At Replenish Nutrition, we've partnered with Gale to allow eligible customers to use their Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) when shopping on our website.
After completing your purchase, Gale will send you a Letter of Medical Necessity and an itemized receipt within 24 hours. We recommend keeping these documents for your records in case your HSA/FSA provider or the IRS requires additional documentation.
If you don't have your HSA/FSA debit card available at checkout, you can still complete your purchase using a regular credit or debit card through the Gale option. Gale will then provide an itemized receipt that you can submit to your HSA/FSA provider for reimbursement.
If you have any questions, please reach out to us at orders@replenishnutrition.com.
FAQs
Questions about Gale, checkout, and card usage
Replenish Nutrition has partnered with Gale to allow you to use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA). This means you can now use your HSA or FSA debit card to buy physician-formulated supplements with pre-tax dollars, resulting in a percentage of savings depending on your tax bracket.
Add products to your cart as usual and make sure they are set as a one-time purchase, not a subscription. At checkout, select “Gale | Pay with HSA/FSA” as your payment option, enter your HSA or FSA debit card, and complete checkout as usual. If you don't see the Gale option, you may be in Shop Pay and should select “checkout as guest” to view more payment methods.
Still choose “Gale | Pay with HSA/FSA” as your payment method. Enter your regular credit card information and Gale will email you an itemized receipt that you can submit for reimbursement.
Note: If you were prompted to enter a verification code when logging in or at checkout, you're likely using Shop Pay.
Shop Pay is Shopify’s express checkout option that lets you use your saved profile information across Shopify-powered stores. It speeds up checkout by skipping most of the standard steps.
Want to use your HSA/FSA with Gale?
HSA/FSA cards are debit cards, and the most common reason for declines is insufficient funds. Reach out to your HSA/FSA administrator to confirm your available balance.
Please forward the request from your FSA to orders@replenishnutrition.com, and Replenish Nutrition will work with the Gale team to issue you a new receipt.
Please check your spam folder, as emails from Gale can sometimes be filtered. If you still can't find it, visit withgale.com/contact and let them know the email address associated with your order.
No, this isn’t supported at this time. If one HSA or FSA account doesn’t have enough funds, you can enter a regular credit card on the Gale checkout page and then submit the receipt and Letter of Medical Necessity for reimbursement.
Sales tax for eligible items is also covered by HSA/FSA funds. If a customer has a split cart, the tax will be divided among the cards based on the eligible items.
Documentation and follow-up questions
A Letter of Medical Necessity is essentially a note from a doctor stating that you are purchasing an item to treat or manage a medical condition.
To qualify to use your HSA or FSA card for Replenish Nutrition supplements, the IRS requires a Letter of Medical Necessity. Replenish Nutrition has partnered with Gale to enable an asynchronous telehealth review as part of checkout. Within 24 hours of your purchase, Gale will email you the itemized receipt and supporting documentation.
Keep it on file for at least three years in the event of an IRS audit of your HSA or FSA account. Occasionally, FSA administrators may also ask to see the letter to confirm purchase eligibility.
Please email withgale.com/contact, and Gale will reach out to their telehealth team to reprocess and send your corrected Letter of Medical Necessity.
This may be a time zone issue. Contact orders@replenishnutrition.com so Replenish Nutrition can reach out to Gale and see whether the letter can be reissued with the corrected date.
Generally, one-off custom requests cannot be guaranteed, but Replenish Nutrition will reach out to Gale to see whether your request can be accommodated.
Please check your spam folder first. If the email still isn’t there, visit withgale.com/contact and let them know which email address you used for the order.
What happens after checkout
Check with your HSA/FSA provider before purchase whenever possible to confirm eligibility. If you believe your claim was wrongly denied, send any response from your provider to Replenish Nutrition so it can be shared with Gale for guidance on next steps. Employer-sponsored FSAs can set stricter rules than the IRS, so eligibility can vary by plan.
That depends on the policy of the specific FSA provider. Most FSA administrators require that the purchase be made during the period of coverage, so purchases for a 2025 plan generally need to be made and submitted within that same coverage window.
Unfortunately, for purchases made without using Gale in checkout to receive an itemized receipt, it may be difficult to apply for reimbursement.
For Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), customers can use an itemized receipt for reimbursement anytime after a purchase, even many years later.
For Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), most plans require that the purchase was made during the same calendar year as the active FSA coverage, although some providers offer a short grace period for receipt submission.
